Implant Bars

Dolder, Paris and Montreal bars and hybrid frameworks, milled in titanium, for removable and fixed implant prostheses, verified for passive fit.

Bar types

Bars for removable prostheses

Dolder bar on the working model
01

Dolder bar

Resilient ovoid or rigid U-shaped profile, in macro and micro sizes.

Milled titanium bar with attachments on the working model
02

Milled bar

Parallel walls, with Locator, Novaloc or ball attachments.

Also available

Paris bar

The Montreal bar profile under a removable prosthesis: a polished titanium gingival surface that is easy to clean, with attachments for retention.

Bars for screw-retained fixed prostheses

Titanium Montreal bars with retention pins
01

Montreal bar

Polished titanium gingival surface that follows the tissue, with the resin retained by finish lines and buccolingual retention holes.

Anodised titanium wrap-around bar on the working model
02

Wrap-around bar

A framework fully wrapped in the denture resin.

Titanium fusion bar on the model
03

Fusion bar

Also available

Hybrid framework

A framework whose shape mechanically retains the resin and teeth, the basis of All-on-X full-arch rehabilitations.

On a full arch, the accuracy of the position capture determines fit quality far more than the accuracy of the milling.

Frequently asked questions

Implant bars in practice

Milled or cast bar, what is the practical difference?

A cast bar in soldered segments accumulates casting shrinkage and the thermal distortion of every joint. A milled bar is machined from a solid block: there is nothing to assemble, so nothing to distort. On two implants the difference hardly matters. On four or more it becomes the difference between passive fit and permanent strain.

How do you verify passive fit before sending me the bar?

We screw the bar onto the working model, tighten a single screw, then check visually and with an explorer that no gap opens at the other interfaces. The result is documented with the case. We recommend you repeat the same check in the mouth before the prosthesis is finished.

How much prosthetic height does a bar need?

Count the height of the bar, the space for the attachment system and the thickness of the denture base with the teeth. If the available height between the implant platform and the occlusal plane is insufficient, a bar is not the right answer and we will tell you before milling rather than after delivery.

Can Locator attachments be added to an existing bar?

On a milled bar designed to receive them, yes. On a bar already in the mouth whose original design we do not hold, it takes a scan of the bar in place and a case-by-case assessment. Send us the scan before committing to anything with your patient.

What do you do if the bar does not seat in the mouth?

Return it with the sectioned and luted verification jig. In the large majority of cases the discrepancy comes from the position capture rather than the milling, and a fresh capture, ideally by photogrammetry, resolves it without redoing the design.
