The hand wax-up keeps a real advantage on cases where occlusal morphology is the subject: the ceramist sculpts the cusps while watching the movement paths on the articulator, and that reading is still hard to match on screen.
A wax-up validated in the mouth is also the best consent document you have: the patient has seen and worn what they are approving.

The digital version excels wherever something has to be modified, duplicated, archived or reused: it reprints identically and it feeds the design of the definitive pieces directly. On an anterior esthetic case, we recommend digital.
Yes, and that is its highest-return use. The prosthetic project established before surgery determines where the implants should go. That same file then drives the planning, the surgical guide and the immediate temporary prosthesis. An implant case planned without a prosthetic project is planned on available bone, and that gets paid for later.
A record of the new vertical dimension, taken in the mouth with the wax or material of your choice, on top of the scans. Without it we would have to estimate a value, which we do not do. The mock-up then serves to verify your patient tolerates the new height before anything becomes irreversible.
For a short period and with sufficient anchorage, yes, and it is a useful way to test phonation and day-to-day comfort. Tell us at intake: we then adjust the thickness and material of the shell accordingly, which is not the same design as a mock-up meant for a few minutes on the chair.
On a digital project, form and length revisions are quick and we allow for them in the normal cycle of the case. Send your annotations on photographs of the mock-up in the mouth, which is the most precise way to tell us what has to change.
