The file is kept: a second set or a replacement is produced without bringing the patient back for an impression.
Frequently asked questions
Trays and mouthguards in practice
How do you design a guard for a patient in fixed appliances?
With relief around the brackets and a softer material, to absorb the tooth movement that continues during wear. A conventional guard thermoformed tight over brackets becomes impossible to insert after a few weeks. Flag the appliance at intake.
How many sets can you produce at once?
As many as you prescribe, in the same run. That is the main advantage of the digital workflow on this family: the model is printed from a file, so the second set does not cost a second impression.
Do you accept a stone model instead of a scan?
Yes, we digitise it on arrival. The intraoral scan is still preferable, because it removes impression distortion and because it lets us keep the file for later sets, which a stone model cannot do beyond its physical life.
